Overview of the West Sumbawa: Located
just across the strait from lombok, west sumbawa is even more
rugged
in nature both in and out of the water, apart from surfers
not many tourist venture here when compared to lombok, although
the area is just as scenic with many beautiful beaches and
reefs most of which catch a fair amount of swell and are directly
offshore in dry season trades.
Waves: Like much of Indo fast hollow lefts
are what's on menu here, with super sucks being the jewel in
the crown and the wave most come to this area in the hope of
scoring.
Crowd
wise: Often hit and miss can get crowded with charter
boats and land based surfers.

Yo yo's- the swell magnet of the area,
two rights the hook and the wedge break here, both waves
are fun but
not epic, normally surfed as a last resort when other spots
are to small.
Super suck- An amazing left barrel machine
and one of the best lefts in Indo when on, although needs
a solid swell to start breaking and can be rather fickle,
this is the wave that most surfers who come here aim at scoring,
although it's really only for advanced surfers with thick
lips, power and punch breaking over a shallow reef bottom.
Scar reef- Not as perfect as Super sucks
but still a high quality left with plenty of chances to get
barreled, Scar reef is a lot more consistent than Super suck
and again is only really suited to better surfers breaking
over shallow coral reef.
Other waves- includes names such as, tropical's,
donuts, little bingin, fly's, benete.
